Airbnb is ramping up its presence in the corporate travel sector.
The accommodation rental site revealed that it signed 500 new companies to its ‘Airbnb for Business’ programme within 24 hours of launching a new global travel management suite on 20 July 2015.
There are now more than 1,000 businesses from 35+ countries which have made Airbnb part of their corporate travel programmes, including Google.
“The corporate community’s response to our business travel programme has been staggering and confirms our findings that business travelers increasingly want to redefine the business trip,” said Marc McCabe, business travel lead at Airbnb.
“The average business travel stay on Airbnb is 6.8 days, which shows how customers are looking for a mix of business and leisure, and often adding a weekend to explore a new destination.”
Airbnb for Business allows business travellers to directly book accommodation via Airbnb and automatically expense it back to their employers. The recently introduced suite of travel management tools gives travel managers a view of their employees’ travel itineraries, financial reporting data and centralised billing.
Airbnb now offers accommodation in more than 34,000 cities and 190 countries.
