Airbus will embark on an 11-day tour of China this month, in an effort to promote its new A350 aircraft to the country’s airlines.
The tour will kick off on 29 October and will visit five major Chinese cities before concluding on 8 November. The A350 will also be on show at the Zhuhai Airshow, where it will perform a flight display.
To date, Airbus has taken firm orders for 810 A350s. But only 34 of these have been placed by airlines based in mainland China – 20 by China Eastern Airlines, 10 by Air China and, most recently, four by Sichuan Airlines – and the A350 has been out-sold by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner in the Chinese market.
The tour will see Airbus visit the home bases of China’s largest carriers, including Hainan Airlines (Haikou), Air China (Beijing), China Eastern (Shanghai), China Southern (Guangzhou) and Sichuan Airlines (Chengdu).
