Air France launches East Midlands service
Air France has announced it is to connect East Midlands Airport ‘to the world’ with new flights to Paris-Charles de Gaulle. The airline has signed a new codeshare deal with Flybe to launch the twice daily service this Sunday (28 October) to the Paris airport, which will provide connections to 180 destinations. CityJet launches two new routes, price structure
CityJet has announced it will launch two new routes in Germany and restructured fares as part of its winter schedule launch. The airline, which flies from London City Airport, will launch daily flights to Munster-Osnabruck on 29 October followed by twice daily services to Nuremburg from 27 January 2013. The new routes were announced with a restructured fares system which includes three levels – CityValue, CityFlex and CityPremium. Click here for full story
Aeromexico to launch Heathrow-Mexico City
Aeromexico has announced it will launch flights between Heathrow and Mexico City from 14 December. The airline will fly three times a week from Heathrow’s Terminal 4 and will offer connecting flights throughout Mexico including Puerto Vallarta, Los Cabos, Guadalajara and others. For inbound passengers the airline will use its SkyTeam partners to broaden its connections throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
London-Gambia flights launch
Gambia Bird Airlines launched its flights from Gatwick to Banjul, Gambia and Freetown, Sierra Leone earlier this week. The new airline is flying once a week each Wednesday to Banjul and once a week every Saturday to Freetown. The flights will be operated by an Airbus A319-100 with premium and economy class. The carrier is also developing its network in Africa for on-going connections.
Thomson names first Dreamliner
Thomson Airways has announced its first Boeing 787 Dreamliner will be named ‘Living the Dream’. The name has a suggestion by Nicola Thomson from Glasgow who submitted her entry through Twitter along with nearly 2,000 others. She had dedicated the entry to the British celebrations this year and her personal triumph over neuro surgery and will now fly on the plane when it launches next year.
WOW Air buys Iceland Express
Low-cost carrier WOW Air is said to have acquired rival Icelandic carrier Iceland Express. Under the deal WOW has taken over Iceland Express’s operations and scheduled flights and is meant to have little impact on passengers. However Iceland Express’s plans to launch flights to Boston have been put on hold although Wow Air bosses are said to be looking into US services.
