Southwest Airlines has defended its position after removing actress and musician, Leisha Hailey, from a flight in El Paso, US. Ms Hailey and her Lesbian partner were told to disembark the aircraft after they became embroiled in an argument with cabin crew. The couple claim they were thrown-off for a “modest kiss” and the airline was discriminating the women for their sexuality. Southwest Airlines offers a slightly different version of events, saying their public display of affection was “excessive” and that the profane language the women used in response to staff requests to tone down their behaviour was the reason for their expulsion. According to AP, the couple have admitted that they “overreacted”, but uphold accusations of homophobia against the airline.
