The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has reported that tourism from Europeans and Indians to Phuket is a rapidly growing market. This has fueled the introduction of more direct flights into Phuket and a positive outlook for the hotel industry.
The island destination has seen a significant increase in tourist arrivals so far this year, and according to TAT, this will continue to rise in 2012. The Indian market has diplayed particularly rapid growth while the European market has shown resurgence. In response, Kingfisher Airlines is reported to be planning regular flights from New Delhi and Mumbai to Phuket in November this year, while charter flights from Warsaw, Poland, are expected to begin service next year. As the tourist numbers rise, passenger traffic to Phuket International Airport is predicted to hit almost 8 million by the end of 2011.
