Bangkok’s old airport, Don Mueang, will get a new lease of life this week, when new Thai Prime Minister, Somchai Wongsawat, and his cabinet, turn the facility into their temporary offices. The Bangkok Post reported that the idea of a ‘Don Mueang Government House’ was raised after Thailand’s traditional seat of government was overrun by the anti-government demonstrators last month. Demonstrators still refuse to leave the building, despite former PM Samak Sundaravej having been deposed.
Don Mueang airport is still functioning as an airport, with a number of low-cost and domestic flights still operating from the north Bangkok hub.
