The Airports Commission has called for more evidence on the connectivity and business from the UK’s regional airports.
The government-appointed commission wants to focus on the domestic and international options from all airports except Heathrow and Gatwick as it looks to get a ‘national picture’ on airport capacity.
The commission, chaired by Sir Howard Davies, has called to receive information on connectivity from regional airports; how business models at these sites are changing and whether route development can be improved.
Launching the publication in Scotland today, Davies said: “Regional airports and those in London and the south east other than Gatwick and Heathrow remain critical to the Commission’s analysis; it is clear that in the future these airports will play a crucial national role, especially at a time when the major London airports are operating very close to capacity.”
The consultation will close on 25 July and has been released with a new paper ‘Utilising the UK’s Existing Airport Capacity’.
