The Ajman Tourism Development Department (ATDD) has unveiled upcoming multi-million tourism projects planned for the emirate at this week’s World Travel Market in London, highlighting its status as a major tourism and investment destination for the UK market.
Visitors and exhibitors who visited the Ajman government stand at the show expressed their interests in the soon-to-open The Oberoi, Al Zorah, a luxury hotel with spacious rooms and suites that will cater primarily to luxury-seeking and wellness-focused guests who demand exclusivity and privacy.
The delegation also showcased the 182-key hotel in Ajman Corniche by R Hotels, the hospitality arm of Ajman-based R Holding, which was launched at a cost of $40.9 million (AED150 million). The new hotel is targeting an opening date in 2017.
Other major tourism projects include a new touristic restaurant complex being constructed in Ajman Marina and a new shopping and entertainment complex, next to Ajman Fish Market.
“We made the best use of our participation in the first day of WTM where we met with potential investors and key players in the travel industry, with an anticipation of conducting a series of business match making events and meetings in the remaining days of the even,” said ATDD general manager HE Faisal Al Nuaimi.
“In accordance with the trends and targets of Ajman Vision 2021, Ajman delegation to WTM highlighted its significant efforts with regard to the development of tourism infrastructure in the emirate, with the focus of increasing the number of visitors in 2017 by 20%, following the remarkable growth of tourists from Europe to the Emirate, as Hotels in Ajman registered nearly 115,000 guests from Europe in 2015.”
A number of meetings and interactions were also held with heads and representatives of other tourism destinations and travel and tourism agencies to introduce them to what Ajman has to offer to international travelers and investors, and to enhance business investments especially the packages and promotions during the holiday season, including the National Day, Christmas and New Year’s Eve
The Ajman visitor’s guide in Braille was also launched at WTM to target blind and visually impaired tourists who would like to learn more about the destination. This initiative comes within the framework of efforts set by ATDD which aims to assist and integrate people with disabilities from all categories, particularly those with visual challenges. The Ajman visitor’s guide in Braille is available in English & Arabic.
