ALTM, (Asia Luxury Travel Market) the only dedicated showcase for the luxury travel industry in Asia-Pacific, will launch a major new initiative at this year’s event when it announces the results of a unique trends survey.
Carried out over a period of 2 months in the first quarter of 2010, through highly targeted regional and global luxury planner and supplier databases, the research will seek to help clarify how business may have changed during the fluctuation in economic conditions.
It will highlight preferred destinations, frequency of travel, annual spending, domestic versus international and the buyer/supplier relationship.
It will also show the affect of the last year on the choices of high net worth individuals (their clients) when planning their leisure time, how the industry might react to potential influences of change, whether “luxury travel brands” are well placed to entice the region’s wealthy and what these trends could reveal about the habits of this elite group of travellers in the future.
Supported by Asia’s leading travel industry publication (TTG ASIA) the results are expected to have a real impact on showing what the brand-conscious high net worth travellers really want from their leisure time.
“A survey by Merill Lynch Wealth Management late last year revealed that despite the set backs of 2008 they expect the region to be one of the fastest drivers of growth among millionaires until 2018. It is therefore vital that as the leading event for the luxury travel sector, ALTM continues to provide insight from those developing luxury bespoke itineraries and those personally organising the arrangements for their clients. We hope this ground breaking piece of research will be the first step in what will become an annual presentation during ALTM”, said Debbie Joslin, Event Director.
The results will also set the scene at the first ALTM Ultratravel Forum - a unique debate that opens this year’s show at a separate conference on June 14th at from 4pm and 6pm in the Shanghai Centre Theatre (part of the Portman Ritz-Carlton complex). Open to all attendees of ALTM exclusively by invitation only.
ALTM takes place from 14th - 17th June. To register your interest in ALTM 2010 and for further information on the event visit: www.altm.com.cn.
