Amadeus has revealed what the industry believes are the three key trends in Asia’s corporate travel sector.
Following a recent event at Singapore’s Raffles Hotel, which gathered more than 40 corporate travel managers, the travel technology company compiled what were identified as the key factors that will influence the success of corporate travel companies in the coming years: ensuring duty of care, retained travel consultants and providing a ‘one stop shop’ for clients.
Attendees at the Asia Pacific Corporate Travel Network event, which was held in tandem with BCD Travel and sponsored by SAP, said the main priority in the coming years would be to cater to travellers’ needs while keeping corporate travel costs low.
The travel mangers collectively agreed that retaining travel consultants was critically important, to ensure service quality and handle complex bookings. They also agreed that ‘duty of care’ remains paramount, to allow companies to ensure the health and safety of their employees. Finally, the availability of a ‘one-stop shop’ when making travel arrangements was identified as being crucial.
Karun Budhraja, Amadeus Asia Pacific’s vice president of corporate marketing & communications, delivered the keynote and moderated a panel at the event.
“With red tape or visa restrictions lifting, we will see an increasing number of travellers commuting between countries for their jobs. Indonesia will see close to one-in-five small business employees. We will also see the rise of the female business traveller that is predicted to increase up to 400% in 2030, from the current 4.5 million. These represent many opportunities for travel providers,” said Budhraja.
