Amanemu, Aman’s second property in Japan, will open its doors 1 March 2016.
The new luxury hot spring resort will be set in the Ise Shima National Park in the south of Honshu Island, and will be designed in a traditional Japanese style, with low tiled roofs and dark timber exteriors.
The resort will offer just 24 suites and four two-bedroom villas, all of which feature their own private onsen. Facilities will include a 2,000m² Aman Spa which features a large central onsen, two onsen pavilions, a watsu pool, four treatment rooms and a fitness centre. There will also be a restaurant serving Japanese and international cuisine.
Perched on the shores of Ago Bay, known as the ‘Bay of Pearls’, Amanemu will also offer guests private tours to the Ise Grand Shrine and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Kumano Kodo pilgrimage trails.
Aman’s first Japanese property, Aman Tokyo, opened in December 2014, in a move that also marked the company’s first ever city hotel.
