The Dutch Ambassador to Thailand has called for an end to jet-ski scams and extortionist tuk-tuk drivers. The Dutch Ambassador to Thailand Joe Boer raised the issue with Phuket Governor Tri Augkaradacha, saying these issues threatened long-term health of tourism on the island. Boer referenced the rising number of complaints made against jet-ski scammers and a confrontation between two tourists and a tuk-tuk driver over a THB1,000 fare. Quoted in the Phuket Gazette, he said; “That’s not good for us and not good for Phuket,” warning of the landslide impact such incidents may have on visitor arrivals.
