American Airlines has introduced video streaming to its flights as part of a new entertainment on demand option. The system will allow passengers to stream films and television shows from a library to personal laptops that enable WiFi. “We’ve been deeply involved in developing the concept of streaming video with Gogo, as part of our vision of continuing to elevate the travel experience by pushing the envelope with our in-flight entertainment offerings,” said Rob Friedman, vice president – marketing at American Airlines. “We continue to execute this strategy and lead in this space by making prudent investments in innovative, cutting-edge technologies. The service will be rolled out to tablets and other devices in the coming months. It is currently available on the airline’s Boeing 767-200s between New York and Los Angeles and San Francisco at 99 cents a show and US$3.99 a film.
