American Airlines has selected Sabre to provide its new combined reservation system, following the merger with US Airways.
Sabre Airline Solutions will now roll out its reservation system to manage all flight schedules and booking services, flight status updates, gate location information and web check-in services for both carriers.
The integration process is expected to take up to two years to complete.
“The migration to one reservation platform in partnership with Sabre is a critical milestone in the merger integration process,” said Maya Leibman, American’s chief information officer.
Hugh Jones, president of Sabre Airline Solutions, said he was keen to start the implementation process. “We’ve got a top team of technology and delivery experts working on the migration plan to ensure the new airline reservations system delivers a truly personalised travel experience across the entire journey,” he said.
Sabre is the platform currently being used at American, so the system will now be expanded to include the combined network American and US Airways.
