American Airlines unveiled a new logo and livery yesterday as part of on-going changes to the brand.
The carrier said its new logo, which still incorporates the eagle, star and A in a modern way, comes as it prepares to introduce the Boeing 777-300ER into its fleet in the next few weeks, while continuing to look into merger opportunities.
Tom Horton, chairman and CEO of American also said the new exterior look had been introduced to reflect its new onboard product which includes lie-flat beds, a new first and business class service, WiFi and new in-flight entertainment system.
“While American Airlines completes the evaluation of whether a merger could build on its strengths, it is important that it remains steadfast in the work that has been done and continues to be done to modernise the airline,” he explained. American made a landmark order in July 2011 and will use the updated livery on all new aircraft introduced to the fleet.
