American Airlines yesterday launched a new nonstop service to Shanghai. The airline will serve the Chinese city with daily flights from Los Angeles International Airport, operated using a Boeing 777 aircraft with 16 First Class, 37 Business Class and 194 Economy Class seats.
“Los Angeles is proud to partner with American Airlines, a world-class carrier, to bring more flights, tourists and economic opportunity into our great city,” Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said. “American Airlines’ daily nonstop flight to Shanghai will further strengthen LA’s cultural and economic relationship with China.”
“American’s flight from Los Angeles-Shanghai will not only benefit the people of our two countries, but also play a positive role in enhancing the friendship of our two peoples and promoting the economic and tourism cooperation between our two nations,” said Consul General Ambassador Qiu Shaofang of China to Los Angeles.
Flights will depart LAX at 3.10pm each day arriving at Shanghai’s Pudong International Airport at 7.45pm the next day. Return flights will leave Pudong at 9.45am, arriving at LAX at 6.40pm the same day, having crossed the international date line.
