Mississippi riverboat American Queen has appointed a UK sales and marketing office to drive business.
Ex-Viking Cruises boss Graham Clubb is to head up the riverboat’s sales in the UK with Light Blue Travel as its booking agent.
The latter is to develop commission levels and training programmes with agents and tour operators with launch promotions including free UK transfers and onboard benefits. Its team recently visited the ship to prepare for its UK launch.
“I am delighted to join the American Queen Steamboat Company as UK and European general sales agent. The American Queen is like no other river ship – she brings a unique perspective on America’s history, culture and landscapes through the heartland of America. She is the largest river boat in the world and a marvel of American engineering with a giant paddlewheel, a sight to behold,” said Clubb.
The six-deck American Queen is modelled on the mid-nineteenth century riverboats that used to operate on the Mississippi river and embark and disembark from New Orleans, Memphis, St Louis, St Paul, Pittsburgh and Chattanooga.
Priscilla Presley is the vessel’s godmother.
