Brand USA, the national tourism marketing body, has continued its push into India with the hosting of agent seminars Ludhiana and Kolkata.
The educational events, entitled ‘DiscoverAmerica’, allowed representatives from Brand USA and several partners to meet with the local travel trade and provide information about tourism products and attractions in the US.
Attending agents were also encouraged to become USA specialists by enrolling into the recently-launched online training initiative, the ‘USA Discovery Program’.
In total, 160 travel agents participated in the Ludhiana and Kolkata seminars. US tourism bodies represented at the events included the Massachusetts Office of Travel & Tourism, Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau, Visit California, NYC & Company and Travel Oregon.
Representatives from US embassies and consulates were also on hand to offer information about visas.
India was the 11th biggest visitor source market for the US in 2013, contributing 859,156 travellers. But with a growth rate of +19% compared to 2012, it is also one of the fastest-growing markets.
