DIA charts 7.2 million passengers for March

Dubai International welcomed 7.2 million guests for the month of March as per recent reports from Dubai Airports’.
Passenger numbers grew 7.4% to 7,237,509 in March 2016, up from 6,736,929 registered during the same month in 2015. This brings Q1 passenger traffic numbers at Dubai International to 20,948,690 an increase of 6.8% compared to the 19,606,324 that visited the airport during the same period in 2015.
Passenger aircraft movements totalled 34,318 in March, up 4.5% compared to 32,838 in March 2015. During the first quarter of 2016, Dubai International handled 100,137 flights, up 5.4% from the 94,981 handled during Q1 2015.
Eastern Europe was the fastest expanding market in terms of percentage growth with 13.5%, followed by the Indian subcontinent at 10.8%, Western Europe at 10.7% and the GCC at 10.4%.
India remained the top destination country in March with a total of 959,238 passengers, followed by Saudi Arabia at 593,459 passengers and the UK at 545,208 passengers. London topped the list of destination cities, followed by Doha, Jeddah and Mumbai.
