Face-to-Face
Andrew Cole, Managing Director, Travel Trade Recruitment Ltd
1) Travel Trade Recruitment has recently won three accolades. Can you explain what these were and why they have been awarded?
This year, Travel Trade Recruitment has been voted “Best Travel Recruitment Consultancy” at three top travel industry events – the Globe Travel Awards, the Travel Bulletin Awards and the British Travel Awards. We are delighted to be the first recruitment company to have won all three recruitment awards in 2009, and it’s particularly satisfying to received recognition for the service we have provided to the travel industry in a very difficult year.
2) How did you manage to win three awards in such a difficult market?
Very few travel companies were not affected by the credit crunch during 2009, and some have even looked to us for help and advice on redundancies and exit interviews, etc.
Our teams of consultants have been committed and dedication in continuously trying to keep the level of service at its peak during 2009, not only for our clients but also for the many job seekers that looked for us for help in very difficult times. We are always aware that people have a choice when it comes to using a recruitment company to either look for new staff or help find their next job and each of our consultants knew that during 2009 they would have to go the extra mile in order to be the people’s first choice.
3) What increase in the number of permanent job orders have you seen in the past 30 days?
We are glad to say that we are starting to see a significant increase in permanent job orders being registered in the last 30 days. The ‘Business Travel Sector’, which has been hugely affected by the economic downturn, is now showing signs of recovery with many of the corporate travel specialists relocating away from London to reduce their overheads. This has seen a demand for experienced Business Travel Consultants in the rest of the UK. The demand for Retail and Tour Operations staff also picked up in September, though demand has been relatively steady throughout 2009. Employment within this sector is expected to follow its usual season trends and we expect it to get much busier in the New Year
4) Are you seeing a similar increase in the temporary job orders?
Travel Trade Recruitments Temp division has also seen an increase in the use of temporary workers on assignments in the last couple of weeks, with many companies identifying the need for additional resources to relieve the pressure of their already over burdened staff or looking to increase their staffing levels without the commitment of employing permanent staff.
5) What are your current expansion plans for the business?
“Locating and hiring the best talent remains one of the biggest challenges facing the travel industry in 2010″ commented Cole.” Travel Trade Recruitment will be looking to improve their service further during the next 12 months with a major emphasis on expanding their Travel Trade Executive Division and will be looking to play a major role in helping each of our clients find the right calibre of staff as the recession starts to lift and businesses begin to grow.
