“It won’t be easy…if (however) we had managed to secure 4 million foreign tourists by the end of July it would have been
no problem. There must be an effort and hard work from all parties,” Bisnis Indonesia, quoted Jero Wacik as saying.
The Minister said as of the end of July 2007, only 2.57 million foreign tourists had visited Indonesia. That means a shortfall of some 3.5 million to be fulfilled in the remaining five months of the year.
In a Bali Update (www.balidiscovery.com) report, the Minister said the Government would maximize the benefits of hosting the Pacific Asia Travel Association Travel Mart later this month (25-28 September) and the U.N. Conference of Global Warming and Climate C h a n g e set for early Dece m b e r 2007. Both are slated to take place in Bali .
