Las Vegas reported a record international visitor arrivals between 2009 and 2010, according to new figures from the US Department of Commerce. Tourists from outside the US made up 18% of visitors last year, representing a 17.8% increase from 2009. British Airways and Virgin’s flight increases from London and Manchester have continued to boost the UK market, with arrivals up a fifth between June 2010 and May 2011. “International visitors are one of our identified growth markets,” said Rossi Ralenkotter, president and CEO of the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). “Our goal is to increase the international market share to 30% over the next 10 years.” Canada, Australia, Germany, France, China and South Korea also registered market increases and the LVCVA has predicted that the number of Chinese visitors will more than double domestic travellers by 2015.
