Louvre-Golden Tulip plots major China expansion

Louvre Hotels & Golden Tulip has announced plans to increase its portfolio in China to 50 hotels within the next five years – a significant rise from its current portfolio of three properties. The group’s development will initially focus on key business and tourism destinations across the country under three key brands in the midscale and luxury segments: Royal Tulip, Golden Tulip and Tulip Inn. A further five hotels will be signed in 2011 with the aim of reaching a total of 25 hotels by the end of 2012. These will be located in cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Dalian, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Changxing, Chongqing, Chengdu and Zhuhai, as well as the resort province of Hainan.
