Mövenpick signs Philippine island resort
Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement to manage the Huma Island resort – a private island in the Philippines’ Palawan province.
Opening in the fourth quarter of 2012, the Mövenpick Resort & Spa Huma Island is the only resort on the island and will feature 80 overwater bungalows, all with private jacuzzis.
Facilities at the resort include six restaurants, as well as an entertainment room, library, fitness centre and an overwater spa with glass floors. The resort is accessible via seaplane or speedboat.
“Huma Island genuinely deserves its description as a dream destination,” said Andreas Mattmüller, Chief Operating Officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, Middle East & Asia. “This is our second resort in the Philippines after our property in Cebu and it is a magical place that I am sure will cast an unforgettable spell over anyone that visits.”
The Huma Island resort is one of 15 new hotels to be opened by Mövenpick across Asia by 2015. The company currently operates two hotels in Thailand, two in Vietnam and one each in India, the Philippines and Singapore.
