MSC anchors in Shanghai

MSC Cruises is to make the Shanghai Post International Cruise Terminal its Asian hub port and launch a number of Asian routes from there.
MSC Cruises, which sails mainly in Europe and South America, said it will deploy its newest and most experienced staff to Asia.
The Shanghai Post International Cruise Terminal, in which MSC Cruises is a key investor, will open August 5 this year on the Huangpu River in the heart of Shanghai.
MSC Cruises and SIPG have formed a joint venture travel and General Sales agency called MSC Cruises Travel Agency (Shanghai).
The joint venture company will launch an educational drive promoting cruising and set up a 6,000 sqm “Cruise Centre” to promote the cruising concept to the public.
SIPG Terminal is located on the North Bund in the Hongkou District and has a waterfront of 880 metres. SIPG said it expects to attract both inbound and outbound passenger liners as well as foreign cruise liners. The terminal will also host the 2008 Seatrade All Asia Cruise Convention in October 2008.
