Oakwood has accelerated its Asian expansion strategy with the opening of two new serviced residences in the space of two days.
The first to open was the Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur, which became the first Oakwood-branded property in Malaysia when it launched on 31 October 2016. Then a day later on 1 November the company opened the Oakwood Residence Damei Beijing.
“We are proud to have opened two new Oakwood properties in two different countries over two consecutive days,” said Dean Schreiber, manager director of Oakwood Asia Pacific. “This is a first in our company’s 20-year history in Asia and a tremendous achievement for us.
“These two properties were our fifth and sixth openings for the year but we are not done – we are looking to open at least three more properties before the year is over,” he added.
The Oakwood Hotel & Residence Kuala Lumpur offers 251 units, ranging from deluxe rooms to two-bedroom apartments, while the Oakwood Residence Damei Beijing features 171 serviced apartments ranging from studios to three-bedroom apartments.
Oakwood now operates a portfolio of 31 properties in 17 cities across nine countries in Asia.
