Australia’s Rydges has becomes the latest hotel group to launch a programme of services catering specifically to the needs of Chinese guests.
The new ‘Nin Hao’ programme, which has the Chinese name ‘您好’, will include a range of property-level initiatives designed to satisfy Chinese customers, including the provision of Chinese TV channels, congee stations in breakfast rooms, the installation of the China Union Pay system, a Chinese welcome brochure kit, a local Chinese map and Chinese speaking staff.
Rydges said the initiative supported Tourism Australia’s broader strategy to increase the number of Chinese visitors to Australia.
“Beyond mainland China, Rydges is also focusing on a long-term strategy catering to all Chinese speaking guests. Australia’s top 10 most valuable inbound tourism markets are within Asia,” said the company’s director of brand development, Alicia Corsar.
As part of the programme, all Rydges hotel staff and senior management will be required to take a new e-learning programme, designed to teach them about the cultural characteristics of Chinese guests, and how to best cater to their preferences.
A total of 14 Rydges properties in Australia and New Zealand will be taking part in the programme, including Rydges World Square Sydney, Rydges Melbourne, Rydges South Park Adelaide, Rydges Hobart, Rydges Esplanade Cairns, Rydges Darwin Hotel, Rydges Auckland, Rydges Rotorua, Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown.
