Singapore Airlines (SIA) will operate an Airbus A380 on the Singapore-Tokyo-Los Angeles route from 1 July 2011. The launch, initially scheduled for 27 March 2011, was postponed following the 11 March earthquake in Japan. Los Angeles will become the SIA’s eighth A380 destination, following Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Zurich, London and Sydney.
The new LA flights will depart Singapore’s Changi airport daily at 9.23am, arriving at Tokyo’s Narita airport at 5.30pm. It then leaves Narita at 7.15pm, arriving at the California hub at 1.30pm. The return service departs LA at 3.45pm, arriving in Narita at 7.15pm. The A380 departs Narita at 8.50pm, arriving back in Singapore at 3.05am the following day.
SIA’s Airbus A380 carries 471 passengers in three classes.
