South East Asian specialist shifts agent focus

A tour operator specialising in holidays to South EastAsia is to boost its activity with independent travel agents after TUI pulledthe use of its ground services. The Bangkok-based company, named Footsteps inAsia, has shifted its focus and will also allow direct bookings through itswebsite from 1 November, as well as continue to arrange tours for companiessuch as The Imaginative Traveler, Sawadee Reisen and The Adventure Company.
“By offeringretail services for the first time, Footsteps in Asia is able to better shareits experience, know-how and buying power with consumers who book direct or gothrough their local travel agent,” said John Powell, founder of Footsteps inAsia.
The company offers tours to Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos withtailor options ranging from backpacking to five star hotels. Powell hasattributed the company’s previous success to its local, knowledgeable guidesand its hands-on western management team out in Asia.
