Star Alliance is looking at adding one more airline member from India, even though Air India’s integration is
going smoothly.
The alliance is happy with the integration process of Air India, Christian Klick, Vice President, Corporate, Star Alliance, said, without giving a time frame. “The integration of Air India is on track. India is a big market. So we will monitor this market for a second airline member together with Air India,” Christian Klick, Vice President of Star Alliance told the Mint.
Star Alliance is not in talks with InterGlobe Aviation Pvt. Ltd, that runs low fare airline IndiGo, for a membership, Klick said. He said the board of Star Alliance is discussing the options of inducting low-fare airlines as members. The next board meeting is scheduled in June in London.
Klick said Air India and Star Alliance have agreed on a joint implementation plan to get certain parameters such as IT systems and other contractual terms in specified time.
