TMS releases inaugural Asia Salary Survey results
Tourism and hospitality recruitment giant, TMS Asia Pacific, has released the findings of its inaugural Asia Salary Survey. The study was conducted between April and June this year, with TMS inviting input from more than 5,000 of its clients throughout the Asia. Eventually over 1,000 responses were gathered from countries across the region, from Southeast Asia to the Middle East, India, China and Japan. .
The dominant result was the importance of career progression. 96% of respondents rated this as important – more than ‘salary’, which 87% of those surveyed rated as important. Only 41% of respondents however, rated their current career progression prospects as ‘good’.
Account directors, business development, procurement and marketing roles continue to receive highest remuneration.
Commenting on the results, TMS Managing Director – Asia, Andrew Chan, said; “Companies offering career development programs stand a much better chance of retaining their staff,” Chan outlined. “The key is to have an understanding of individuals longer term goals and, having identified those goals, ensuring they continue to work closely with their staff and help them gain the critical skills and experience they need to progress within the company.”
TMS regularly conducts salary surveys in Australia and New Zealand and is planning similar exercises in each of its other key areas of operation including the Middle East and the UK.
