Japan’s All Nippon Airways (ANA) has launched its Delhi-Tokyo flights.
The first daily flight NH917 left Tokyo on 28 October with the Boeing 767 aircraft. The Delhi-Tokyo route is airline second route in India, after operating flights between Mumbai and Tokyo since 2007.
The increase in flights on the new route will expand ANA’s network between India and Japan, and will also link passengers to ANA’s route network in North America via Tokyo, which currently includes New York, Washington D.C., Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles, and will be expanded to include San Jose next January.
Takashi Shiki, Senior Vice President of ANA commented, “2012 marks the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and India. It is also the 60th anniversary of ANA. In such a commemorative year, we are very pleased to have launched our second route in India in the capital of Delhi. ANA plans to increase its international network 22% over FY2011 by FY2013. And we believe that increasing flights to and from India is a significant step forward in achieving ANA’s goal of becoming “Asia’s Number One Airline Group.”
I Prabhakara Rao, CEO of Delhi International Airport Private Limited said, “We have been working with ANA for a few months now and I must congratulate the thoroughness and dedication of their team here in Delhi. My team remains committed in their support to ANA”.
