Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas recently announced the opening of its second property in Africa. The resort in Mozambique – Anantara Medjumbe Island Resort & Spa is a 12-room property located on an exclusive island.
The property can be accessed through a 45 minute light aircraft transfer from Pemba International Airport from the mainland. This internal fight can be take from either Maputo or by international flights from Johannesburg or Dar es Salaam.
The 12 Beach Pool Villas offers its guests direct beach access, private pool and all the latest amenities. The food and beverage outlets range from the resort’s Jahazi Restaurant which offers a mix of local specialties to western classics; there is also the signature Dining by Design experience.
The Spa offers its guests a range of treatments. For water sports enthusiasts, the resort offers windsurfing, water skiing and tubing, along with both wake- and knee-boarding. A hand crafted dhow sailing boat can also be accessed.
Anantara’s third resort will be added next year – a 24-villa Matemo Island which is currently closed for refurbishment. The property will be rechristened to Anantara Matemo Island Resort.
