Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas is set to make its debut in the Sultanate of Oman this autumn with the opening of Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in the north east of the country and Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara in the southern province of Dhofar.
Facilities for both hotels include infinity swimming pools, tennis courts and gyms. Both resorts will boast an Anantara Spa, with hammams and treatment rooms offering signature spa treatments plus meeting and banqueting facilities.
Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort
In November 2016, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort in the the Saiq Plateau on Green Mountain, is 2,000 metres above sea level, making it the highest five-star resort in the Middle East and one of the highest in the world.
The journey to the property, two hours from Muscat International Airport and four and a half hours from Dubai passes date plantations, historical forts and dry riverbeds known locally as wadis. The resort echoes this architecture, inspired by ancient citadels.
The 115 luxury guest rooms and villas overlook either a nearby canyon or gardens. The resort’s 82 Premier and Deluxe Rooms boast a bedroom and bathroom with a rain shower and separate bath alongside a balcony. The 33 One- or Two-Bedroom Villas have villa host services and a private infinity pools overlooking the cliffs or in gardens.
There are six restaurants and lounges, including a fine dining Arabian grill concept and poolside Roman-inspired restaurant, to an all-day international dining restaurant and rooftop shisha lounge.
Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara
Situated between a beach and freshwater lagoon in Dhofar, Al Baleed Resort Salalah by Anantara is 15 km from Salalah International Airport.
The property’s authentic architecture is framed by tropical gardens, with walkways surrounded by palms and water. The resort comprises 136 guest rooms and villas offering views of the Arabian Sea, lagoon or gardens.
The 40 Premier and Deluxe Rooms offer handcrafted furnishing and rich textures, whilst the eight One-Bedroom Villas and 88 One- and Two-Bedroom Pool Villas have villa host services and separate living areas. The Pool Villas have private temperature-controlled swimming pools, the first of their kind in Salalah.
Three dining venues offer a South East Asian restaurant, a Mediterranean beach bar and all-day dining restaurant. Activities include climbing cliffs, catching fish, exploring the fort-dotted mountains or watersports, or visiting ancient ruins and souks.
