Minor Hotel Group has announced that in November 2011 it will reflag one of its owned Bangkok properties, the Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa. The riverside resort is set to join Minor’s luxury hotel brand, Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas.
The urban resort property, which is located on Bangkok’s Chao Praya River, will add to Anantara’s existing portfolio on 15 properties across Asia, the Middle East and the Indian Ocean. The Bangkok Marriott Resort & Spa features 413 rooms, including 94 suites, 10 bars and restaurants, meeting and conference rooms, a spa and tropical grounds. Minor is also planning to renovate the property prior to its rebranding, although the resort will remain fully operational throughout 2011.
Dillip Rajakarier, COO of Minor Hotel Group, said; “I wish to extend my sincere thanks to Marriott for such a prosperous partnership, and look forward to many more successful years together with our existing Marriott properties. Looking to other avenues of Minor’s future, I am delighted to see the solid growth of the Anantara brand, now in its 10th year, and a new Bangkok destination will certainly add to the illustrious Anantara portfolio.”
Peter Carmichael, Senior VP of Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas added; “Anantara has gained a reputation for showcasing indigenous cultural experiences in some of the world’s most exotic locations. The new addition to the Anantara portfolio will undoubtedly prove to be an asset in this regard, with its sought after riverside location providing a perfect match with Anantara’s own charming identity.”
Minor International will continue to work with Marriott on their additional properties in Thailand, including the JW Marriott in Phuket and Marriott resorts in Pattaya and Hua Hin.
