Andhra Pradesh is looking at tapping tourists from Maharashtra.
The tourism department plans to promote lesser-known destinations in Andhra Pradesh, especially the coastline and beaches in Vizag. The state has identified 10 unexplored destinations for tourism promotion, while the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has announced special packages, investment opportunities to attract traffic from Maharashtra.
“Hyderabad and Mumbai are like sister cities. There is so much in common, in terms of heritage, culture, cuisine, history and even shopping. Even a business trip to Hyderabad can be explored to include a lot more,” said Chandana Khan, Special Chief Secretary to Andhra Pradesh government’s Youth Advancement, Tourism and Culture department during a press conference in Mumbai yesterday.
Speaking about the destination’s offering, Khan said, “There are also several off-the-beaten-track holiday options that one can explore. Right from beaches to historical structures and even spots on the Buddhist circuits, Andhra Pradesh is a whole world of new opportunities. Beaches are something that hasn’t been explored in Andhra Pradesh. We have a coastline of almost 1,000km and Vizag has some of the best beaches in the South.
