Tourist arrivals at Cambodia’s Angkor temple complex increased 15% in the first half of 2008, the Phnom Penh Post has reported. According to findings by the Apsara Authority, US$17 million revenue was gained in entrance fees to Angkor Wat in H1 2008, with this figure expected to rise to US$40 million by year end 2008. Full-year 2007 saw US$32 million achieved through entrance fees. Of the total annual Cambodian tourists, 56% reportedly visit Angkor.
