Etihad Airways recently celebrated its first anniversary of service to Hong Kong.
A gala dinner to commemorate the achievement was held in Hong Kong and attended by the airline’s key local trade partners.
Etihad Airways’ senior vice president global sales, Danny Barranger, said: “Hong Kong is a significant outbound market, the fourth largest in Asia in terms of international tourism expenditure according to the World Tourism Organization. There are a large volume of independent travellers, who are interested in exploring new routes. We have seen an 80% increase in number of Hong Kong travellers transiting through Abu Dhabi in the past year, of which 33% stayed over for a few days.”
The airline carried more than 147,000 guests to and from Hong Kong since the launch of services. The route is operated using a two-class Airbus A330 aircraft, offering a total of 3,620 seats per week.
