A UFO sighting in southwestern China halted flights in and out of Chongqing airport last week. According to the Shanghai Daily, planes were diverted away from Jiangbei International Airport to other airports when official spotted a UFO circling the runway. The object hung over the landing zone for 50 minutes before disappearing, at which points flights were resumed. The Chongqing government has no explanation for the unusual incident, but airport workers believe it may have been a lantern or a large balloon. Wednesday’s close encounter is not the first such incident for Chinese air traffic controllers. Last July, a strange glowing orb was seen above Xiaoshan airport in the eastern city of Hangzhou.
