ABOVE: The ASEAN Promotional Chapter for Tourism (APCT) recently announced its plans to jointly promote the ASEAN region to Australian business and leisure travellers, aiming to strengthen its appeal as a single destination and accelerate economic grow ththrough tourism.
Mr Kevin Leong, chairman of APCT in Australia and regional director of Singapore Tourism Board (Oceania) said “as Australians become increasingly time poor, more and more are opting to holiday closer to home rather than spending their precious down time on extended flights.”
He added “The ASEAN region is ideally located to take advantage of this trend, as well as being able to offer a diverse range of exotic, affordable and easily accessible holiday experiences.”
More than two million Australians are currently visiting the ASEAN region each year, ranking ninth as a source of visitors to the ASEAN nations.
Several joint promotional activities scheduled in Australia include a presentation to retail travel agents, ASEAN Day functions including guest speakers and an ASEAN Golf Day.
