A new podcast has been launched offering tips and tales about travel in Asia.
Talk Travel Asia was created by friends Scott Coates, co-founder of travel company Smiling Albino, and Trevor Ranges, a professional guidebook writer. The pair, who have a collective 30 years of experience in the Asian travel industry, will discuss their own travel experiences in the region, along with a network of travel experts who will share their own insights.
“My main focus over the last decade has been in-depth exploration of the region to write travel guidebooks, particularly for Fodors and National Geographic,” explained Ranges. “While books and websites provide a wealth of information, passionate people who live and work in the region have been my most important resource for learning about different destinations. A podcast enables us to share the insights and enthusiasm of these individuals.”
“Trevor and I constantly found ourselves chatting about travel, to the point we decided it was high time we found a way to do more with our conversations,” added Coates. “He regularly contacted me for information about the countries I designed tours in, and likewise, I frequently hit him up for connections in remote corners. Put the two together and you’ve got a pretty impressive collection of knowledge.”
Four episodes of Talk Travel Asia are now available, with topics including Angkor, travel technology and the plight of Asia’s elephants. Upcoming episodes include discussions on Bangkok scams and scouting movie locations.
New episodes will be released every other week, with full information available at www.TalkTravelAsia.com. Podcasts are currently available for download on Soundcloud and on iTunes in the coming weeks.
