Asiana cargo plane crashes, killing two

A cargo plane operated by Asiana Airlines has crashed into the sea off South Korea’s Jeju Island, killing two people. The Korea Herald reported the country’s Coast Guard as saying that the Boeing 747 aircraft, which departed from Seoul’s Incheon International Airport at 0305 this morning bound for Shanghai, disappeared from the radar screens at around 0410. The pilot had reported mechanical trouble and was planning to make an emergency landing at Jeju International Airport. The Coast Guard found wreckage in waters 107km west of the city of Jeju.
