Australians are being warned not to travel to some of Sri Lanka’s most popular tourist destinations after the latest deadly bomb attack to hit the island.
At least 20 people were killed on Saturday when a bomb exploded on a crowded bus in Dambulla, 150km north of Colombo, reports said.
AAP reported that in response to the blast, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has reissued travel advice for Sri Lanka, warning against all travel to the Cultural Triangle, a region known for its World Heritage sites.
“There has been a significant escalation in the number of serious incidents of politically motivated violence, including in tourist areas in the centre and south of the country,” the paper quoted the advisory as saying.
