Australia warns of terrorism and crime in Philippines
Australia has renewed is travel advisory for the Philippines, warning tourists against the potential threat of terror and crime. Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade has told Australians to exercise a high degree of caution when visiting the country.
“We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in the Philippines because of the high threat of terrorist attack and the high level of serious crime,” an official statement read. “Terrorist attacks could occur at anytime, anywhere in the Philippines, including in Manila. We continue to receive credible reports indicating terrorists are planning attacks against a range of targets in a variety of locations, including places frequented by foreigners.” The department has issued a list of places were there is a real risk of terrorist attack. Locations include airports, hotels, restaurants, shopping centres, markets and many more.
