Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) updated its travel advice for Indonesia on Friday, warning the imminent executions of the Bali bombers could increase the risk of further terrorist attacks.
The DFAT statement read: “We advise you to reconsider your travel to Indonesia, including Bali … due to the very high threat of terrorist attack.”
The increased warning will come as a blow to the island which has been experiencing an excellent resurgence in tourism figures this year. The Indonesian Government earlier announced that the executions will be carried out in early November.
