BA and JAL extend partnership
Japan Airlines (JAL) and British Airways will begin a joint business agreement in October with the two airlines sharing revenue on applicable flights between Europe and Japan.
Effective from Monday 1 October, the partnership will offer better links between Japan and Europe, greater choice of flights to more destinations, enhanced frequent flyer benefits, and the potential to launch new routes.
The carriers have been forging ever closer ties in their evolution to the joint business, having launched code sharing flights between Tokyo and London earlier in September. This will now be extended to 19 weekly flights between Japan and Europe, and will grow further in the coming months.
Willie Walsh, chief executive of IAG, the parent company of British Airways, said; “This new venture heralds a bigger and better service for our customers and the promise of greater co-operation in the future.”
