British Airways has terminated its direct services linking London with Kolkata, Anil Mathur reports. The last flight took off from the West Bengal city’s Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport on Sunday.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that BA will also cut services to Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka. According to an AFP report, the UK flag carrier said the route, which had operated for 34 years, had become unprofitable. The route had been served three times a week.
One piece of good news for the region however is that Air India has reportedly resumed its London-Kolkata (via Delhi) services in the wake of BA’s withdrawal.
