Half-year profits at British Airways (BA) have fallen 91.6%, the BBC has reported. The UK flag-carrier’s pre-tax profit for the April-September period totalled GBP52 million (US$81.6 million), down from GBP616 million during the same period in 2007. BA’s Chief Executive, Willie Walsh, said the period would “be remembered as one of the bleakest on record”.
The airline said it would reduce its number of flights by about 1% in 2009 including the suspension of services from Heathrow to Dhaka and Kolkata.
