The Bahrain Summer Festival has returned for its ninth year, announcing a line-up of events across the island kingdom running until 7 August.
This year the family-friendly festival features a regional and international live music, theatrical performances and creative workshops, such as the five-day ‘Stack’ event featuring several arenas of Lego-based games and activities and Bollywood stage musicals.
This year the festival will also be celebrating Bahrain’s millennia-old history and heritage. The ‘Nakhool’ tent will be positioned at Bahrain Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site dating back over 4000 years.
The tent will be open from 4.30pm – 9.30 pm each day offering a range of activities for children from the Little Artist’s Exhibition to Arabic calligraphy workshops. Kids can also take part in the Opening Operetta, a musical collaboration with the Bahrain Musical Institute that honours Bahraini and Arabic heritage through music.
The of events will take place across the kingdom, in locations including the Cultural Hall, Bahrain Site Museum and the Bahrain National Museum, which will hold the Egyptian movie night.
Most of the events are free to the public, although registration is recommended for some of the workshops. Events will be run in both English and Arabic.
