International visitor arrivals to Bali have surged in 2013.
According to the latest official data, reported by BaliDiscovery.com, the Indonesian resort island welcomed 2.1 million foreign visitors during the month – 11.6% more than the same period in 2012.
Australia remains the island’s top source market, contributing 530,861 visitors in the eight-month period, although this marked a year-on-year rise of just 0.6%. The strongest growth market is China, which saw visitor numbers surge 23.4% to 264,494, making it the second biggest inbound market.
Japan (+14.2% to 139,652), Malaysia (+4.8% to 121,198) and South Korea (+6.7% to 86,453) completed the top five, while the number of visitors from India surged 42.9% to 42,614, marking the strongest growth of any major market.
Bali is expected to end the year with more than 3.2m international arrivals, ahead of the 2.9m achieved in 2012.
